Day 6: Husky – Black Dog Double Challenge combined prompts #Drawlloweentober2019 Inktober: Husky MabsDrawlloweenClub2019: Black Dog
Today drawing is a black Husky dog prompts combined greatly! I like to think at a Spirit Animal. I made the drawing in black ink with a touch of watercolor and gold on the moon I think looks pretty nice! I haven’t created yet the quote that goes with it I need to write one and if I do I will post it here.

❤ Details about these Challenges: Every year in October since 2009, artists all over the world take on the InkTober drawing challenge created by Illustrator Jake Parker by doing one ink drawing a day the entire month. This Year I will Join two amazing challenges InkTober and Drawlloween is a little more spoocky Halloween themed created and hosted on Instagram by Pop Surrealist artist Mab Graves! I will create my daily drawings inspired by the combination of the two Challenges daily prompt words and I have combined the names creating my own challenge “DrawllooweenTober” yes this is my plan to be able to join and drawing daily for both amazing challenges at the same time, if you like to join me use also hashtag #drawlloweentober2019
Day 5 drawing took long time to finish it! Sorry I am posting here on the Blog a day late, yesterday I was only able to post it on Instagram! It took me a good time brainstorming to come up with an original idea that will combine the two prompts Build and Huntress nicely and not showing just my huntress building her bows but she carries two bows the bigger one symbolize that she is also a bowyer a craftsman who makes bows and an huntress in the drawing she is trying out her bows . The fine line work and all the details takes patience and time I am not rushing this series, each drawing has my heart and soul and I want it to be a beautiful series.
I used mostly brown ink, black ink on the bigger bow and arrow and a touch of gold no watercolor this time! I love the precision and cleaness and I decided to do not add color!

Today drawing is ethereal and surrealistic it took long time to finish it! There is lots of detail work in these drawings especially my latest three! Today I have used black and white inks! It was challenging to combine prompts in a interesting and original way and I am very happy with what I did! Today I used black and white inks and watercolor for my “Candelabra lady” almost a kind of Snow Queen in the freezing snow wearing candles on her shoulders a icicle crown and a forest dress 🖤❄️❄️❄️🖤 I added one of my older quotes that in my opinion fits pretty well with the drawing. I hope you like it!

Day 3: Bait – Bat Double Challenge combined prompts #Drawlloweentober2019 Inktober: Bait MabsDrawlloweenClub2019: Bat
Today drawing is another scene with soft color tones and a hint of Victorian – Gothic style in brown ink I am liking drawing these! prompts are Bait an Bat and I wanted to create something more ethereal than creepy! So the girl in my drawing is a nature and bat lover she love to feed the bats at dusk wearing a skirt made of leaves, she is able to communicate with bats, they are spirit animals and they symbolize free spirit trusting in vibrations and inner guidance. They are special and beautiful creatures.

Today drawing is almost a dreamy scene with soft tones of darkness, evoking elements that brings together the two prompts Mindless and Catacombs with a hint of Victorian – Gothic style. I made the drawing in brown ink with a final touch of watercolor and like for day 1 I wrote another quote that complete the drawing. I hope it will speak to you ❤

Day #13 InkTober 2017 Challenges Official Prompts: > MabsDrawlloweenClub: Frankenstein

My original watercolor ink painting was inspired by the Bride of Frankenstein! Created in 2017 following the official combined challenges prompts. I painted this in my inspired Blythe doll style! Creepy but cute she is holding a bowl full of hearts (for the prompt Teemed) ♥️ with a black Crow posing over a cracked… back side skull? I guess…💀 not sure what it was a skull or a sphere! Halloween theme for this one!

My post today is the official release of my new painting dedicated to historic Surrealist artist “Frida Kahlo” the month of July celebrate the anniversaries of her Birthday and end of her life, (6 July 1907 – 13 July 1954) she was a Mexican painter recognized as one of the most revolutionary Latin American artist, best known for her bright color paintings and especially for her self-portraits. She made many portraits telling her own life story dramatically painted. Her paintings were inspired by her culture using symbolism and mythology in her surrealistic style inspired by the nature and artifacts of her native country Mexico. She is also one of the most painted artist around the world, I have seen tribute paintings of her in any creative style and medium. Artists worldwide love to recreate her bold character identified by her eyebrows recon as unibrow iconic shape. This is my second painting dedicated to her. I made my first one two years ago in July 2017 it was a half figure of her inspired by some of her own famous paintings you can see my painting here.
This July 2019 I painted a tribute portrait in my style watercolor and ink which portrays her face with the typical braided hair up do ornate by colorful rose flowers, she wore flowers in her hair most of the time and that’s how she appear in most of the existing photos throughout her life. I am happy overall with this painting especially with the expression I was able to capture in her eyes.
The Moth I painted with black ink and gold is just symbolic in a good way. I love moths and I just thought it will complete this tribute portrait to Frida as you see the Moth has a cross on her chest as symbol of “Faith” and two heart shape in her wings they symbolize “Love” the gold means “Light”. There isn’t any superstitious or dark meanings behind my moth. Moths are “Nocturnal Spirit Animal” they are attracted to light and their meaning resonates with truth, faith and determination you can see a little video I took of this painting to show the shiny gold and I posted on my Instagram!
Sadly Frida Kahlo discovered the art of painting while in bed severely injured from a terrible accident. To take her mind away from the pain and to find a way to pass time she discovered her art and started paint self-portraits one of her famous quotes says: “I paint self-portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best” there are many of her own quotes which her words clearly describe her character like this one “Feet, what do I need you for when I have wings to fly?” Or “I never paint dreams or nightmares. I paint my own reality” and how she describe herself “I am not sick. I am broken. But I am happy to be alive as long as I can paint” – Frida Khalo
Details about my watercolor painting: My watercolors is outlined with black and white ink pens. I used French Artists Watercolors Sennelier l’Aguarelle, Ink pens used COPIC Multiliner Black ink #03. Wish you a wonderful month of August everyone
and to all my artists friends and followers keep painting!
This month I have participated to another inspiring painting challenge the second hosted this year by Artist Annie Stegg Gerard on Instagram.
Annie challenged us for a “Draw this your style challenge, posting her oil painting “Princess Isadora”. I have participated to her first challenge painting “Princess Cordelia” and of course I wanted to participate again. I loved to paint Isadora in my style. Annie gave us no restrictions and pure freedom to re-create her beautiful painting in anyway we wanted. Her Art is ethereal and dreamy, make you think about fantastic fairytales. I loved to paint my vision of Princess Isadora, according to Annie she is Cordelia’s older sister, so now I have re-created the two beautiful sisters in my style and medium. I am happy with the outcome.
About Annie’s art world….
” Inspired by nature, folklore and mythology, her work evokes emotion and imagination in the viewer. Annie has a special love for the 18h century Rococo painters who have had a large influence on her own method. She finds inspiration in their imagination, and the dreamlike palette and lively brushwork that combine to create a wonderful atmosphere of enchantment.” I suggest you to visit her website at Gallery Gerard
I hope that you like my watercolors and ink paintings, let me know your impressions and feelings about it! I really would like to know!
