Day 7:  Enchanted – Yokai
Double Challenge combined prompts #Drawlloweentober2019
Inktober:  Enchanted
MabsDrawlloweenClub2019:  Yokai

Today drawing is inspired by the Japanese Mythology and Folklore “Yōkai (妖怪, ghost, phantom, strange apparition) are a class of supernatural monsters, spirits, and demons in Japanese folklore. The word yōkai is made up of the kanji for “bewitching; attractive; calamity” and “spectre; apparition; mystery; suspicious” (source WikipediA)
The combination of the two prompts  Enchanted and Yokai is great together! I hope you love my “Kiko the Enchanted Yokai” Her name is Kiko and she is very mysterious! I also wrote an Haiku for this drawing!

Today drawing is a black Husky dog prompts combined greatly! I like to think at a Spirit Animal. I haven’t created yet the quote that goes with it I need to write one and if I do I will post it here.

Inktober 2019 – MabsDrawlloweenClub Day 5: Build – Huntress

Day 5 Build – Huntress ©CarolinaRusso

“Her name is Alpha huntress she builds her own bows with gold, she doesn’t hunts animals instead she loves them but be careful she is so powerful…”

Day 5:  Build – Huntress
Double Challenge combined prompts #Drawlloweentober2019
Inktober:  Build
MabsDrawlloweenClub2019:  Huntress

Day 5  drawing took long time to finish it! Sorry I am posting here on the Blog a day late, yesterday I was only able to post it on Instagram! It took me a good time brainstorming to come up with an original idea that will combine the two prompts Build and Huntress nicely and not showing just my huntress building her bows but she carries two bows the bigger one symbolize that she is also a bowyer  a craftsman who makes bows and an huntress in the drawing she is trying out her bows . The fine line work and all the details takes patience and time I am not rushing this series, each drawing has my heart and soul and I want it to be a beautiful series.

I used mostly brown ink, black ink on the bigger bow and arrow and a touch of gold no watercolor this time! I love the precision and cleaness and I decided to do not add color!

❤ Details about my drawings: Supplies used for my Ink drawing ink pens used COPIC Multiliner Black ink #03 and 05, Micron dark red ink #, brown #003. Fountain Pen Pilot Prera Fine Nib. Today drawing is ethereal and surrealistic it took long time to finish it! There is lots of  detail work in these drawings especially my latest three! Today I have used black and white inks! It was challenging to combine prompts in a interesting and original way and I am very happy with what I did!  Today I used black and white inks and watercolor for my “Candelabra lady” almost a kind of Snow Queen in the freezing snow wearing candles on her shoulders a icicle crown and a forest dress 🖤❄️❄️❄️🖤 I added one of my older quotes that in my opinion fits pretty well with the drawing. I hope you like it!

Day 3:  Bait – Bat

Inktober:  Bait
MabsDrawlloweenClub2019:  Bat

Today drawing is another scene with soft color tones and a hint of Victorian – Gothic style in brown ink I am liking drawing these! prompts are Bait an Bat and  I wanted to create something more ethereal than creepy! So the girl in my drawing is a nature and bat lover she love to feed the bats at dusk wearing a skirt made of leaves, she is able to communicate with bats, they are spirit animals and they symbolize free spirit trusting in vibrations and inner guidance. They are special and beautiful creatures.

Happy October! Let’s welcome the Fall Season that brings a lots of creativity and  great art challenges. This is a full month of daily drawings!
Inktober  begins today!
I am happy I made my first drawing starting this exciting new series! Once again I combined the prompts of my two favorite challenges.
Today my Vampire drawing is mostly created in red and black inks only a little splash of watercolor. This month you will see more dark themed art in my drawings cause the “mabsdrawlloweenclub challenge has prompts inspired by darkness and Halloween theme. It’s always interesting to see the way I can adapt my style! Each year I give myself a goal about what I want to experiment or work on during this month, last year was “Textures”, this year would be mostly “Inks and toned color papers” you will see a variety of interesting drawings. I hope you like my vision of Vampire she is not as bloody and violent as traditional vampires. To complete the drawing I have created a quote and is: I see the light through the ring of darkness “ – ©️CarolinaRusso

Day #13 InkTober 2017 Challenges Official Prompts:
> MabsDrawlloweenClub: Frankenstein

My original watercolor ink painting was inspired by the Bride of Frankenstein! Created in 2017 following the official combined challenges prompts. I painted this in my inspired Blythe doll style! Creepy but cute she is holding a bowl full of hearts (for the prompt Teemed) ♥️ with a black Crow posing over a cracked… back side skull? I guess…💀 not sure what it was a skull or a sphere! Halloween theme for this one!

A Spectacular Butterfly Visit…

Painted Lady Butterfly – Watercolor Painting ©CarolinaRusso

These days here in Southern California we have so many beautiful small “Painted Lady Butterflies” flying everywhere!
It is so wonderful to watch, they are everywhere flying fast, I heard that they are millions and are migrating coming from Mexico passing  here going to their destination in Northern California.

Painted Lady Butterfly 2019 California Migration –  Photo ©CarolinaRusso

This year we had lots of rain in the past weeks more than our usual and this is the cause while the butterflies are here they had more food in this location and slowed their pace for their migration. It is the first time that I see something like this and so many joyful little beauties! In my photo above you can see all the lovely colors isn’t she wonderful? A nature masterpiece and she seems big, but actually these butterflies are very small like one inch tall while close wings and a two inches wings span. At first I thought that they were baby Monarch because the similarity in the orange  color and design when the wings are open but actually they are “Painted Lady” I love butterflies of any kind they are magical creatures so precious and beautiful! I also have one tattooed on my foot. They have wonderful symbolic meanings of change and transformation, beauty, joy and cycle changes in life.

Painted Lady Butterfly – Watercolor Painting ©CarolinaRusso

Today I wanted to paint one to remember this magical event and special moment witnessing the 2019 butterflies migration.  I  also wanted to honor the little one you see standing on the rock in my photos, she is not alive anymore ♥️ late last night I found her inside the house on a screen door and gently I had her grip to my finger so that I could bring her outside and let her free, she did walked on my finger and walked in my palm where she decided to spread her wings wide open like to show me all her beauty. I was fascinated to see her color and she closed her wings while standing in my hand…I didn’t know but that was her last breath 😥 I found her this morning like this standing still like when I left her in the garden. I guess if they are migrating she must’ve been exhausted so I kept it and I will treasure her! I hope to find a good way to preserve her ♥️

My mini painting is a little Tribute in appreciation of the universal love and wonderful wildlife and to this lovely Painted Lady that decided to rest and stay in peace forever with me ❤
