Hello everyone,

this is not one of my usual post but is about “Health” and “Natural Remedies” I feel that this is something I like to share with all of you, especially right now that is Winter Season  it’s easy to get sick, weather change, cold temperatures, snow, rain, cold wind, humidity and so on…we need to be wise and protected because cold and flu is easy to catch and is not fun.
I have to say that I am a strong believer of the power of Nature not just in my Art but in everything I do and I use natural homemade remedies. I have seen great results most of the time.
What I am going to share is the recipe I used to cure my “Cold”  when I got sick around New Years Eve.
My symptoms were a cold associated with sore throat, cough, loss of voice, muscle aches.
This special and precious natural mixture did wander for me and is known as the “Turmeric Golden Honey” is claimed to be one of the strongest natural antibiotic. When you take these two ingredients together it strengthens your “Immune System” and is as well a great anti inflammatory.
The mixture is composed of Turmeric and Raw organic Honey. Turmeric is a root  part of the Ginger family cultivated in India and Asia, when dry is a powder having an intense yellow color used as spice for cooking, can be found in every food market, actually is really good and add a unique and exotic taste to your food giving you lots of great health benefits. (I suggest you to Google health benefits of Turmeric).

The Turmeric yellow color is very pigmented and maybe you remember one of my previous post where I explain how I experimented Watercolor painting with Turmeric .

Now let’s get the “Turmeric Golden Honey” recipe:

Ingredients are:

  • 3.5 oz. (100 grams) of Raw Organic Honey. (I use organic raw wildflower honey)
  • 1 tbsp. of Turmeric powder.

Preparation of the mixture:

Add 1 tbsp. of Turmeric in 3.5 oz. (100 grams) of raw organic honey, mix very well with a wooden spoon and place the Golden Honey mixture in a glass jar.
If you want to make more double the dose and store it at room temperature.

How to Use:

Take upon the first symptoms of colds and flu:

Day 1 – Take ½ tsp. every hour during the day.
Day 2 – Take ½ tsp. every two hours during the day.
Day 3 – Take ½ tsp. three times a day.

The Golden Honey mixture should stay in the mouth until dissolved.

The cold usually passes after three days, in mild cases, but sometimes takes longer for the body to recover.
I took this for one week and kept taking ½ tsp. once a day for few more days when I was feeling better until the cold was gone just to keep my immune system strong. Thanks to this homemade mix you can be able to prevent cold without taking any drugs and prescriptions and use it as alternative.

Use it also to boost the Immune System Take ½ tsp once every couple of days as needed.

I remind you strongly that if you suffer of any medical condition and taking any medications please consult your doctor before trying this natural alternative as it may have adverse effects on some individuals.

      1. Exactly, it all has effects. But I have to say that we still should enjoy life. It harms more to eat healthy things with fear than enjoying “treats” here and there wholeheartedly 😉
Haha… so are you, sis 😘

  2. Last spring I added raw local honey to our diets. I add it to smoothies, especially veggie heavy smoothies to impart a little sweetness. I found it helped my allergies and I was able reduce my summer allergy shots from twice a month to once a month. If you aren’t allergic to bees/honey I would highly recommend it for anyone with seasonal allergies.

  3. This sounds a great remedy Carolina,
Many years ago I worked for a company that produced Bee derived health products, and the best of all is Propolis.
Which is basically bee glue it’s what they use to build/repair honeycombs. And honey is a common age old remedy. Turmeric however is a new concept to me other than in cooking. This will have to be tried, thank you for sharing❤

  4. WOW,

I have had a cold for the last week and was making a “tea” based on my mum´s recipe which contained honey and turmeric (turmeric is called “gurkmeja” in Norwegian, and we can buy is as a fresh root that looks like a small ginger root).

In my mother´s tea we also put other natural ingredients that have antibiotic properties, and some that have other properties such as chilli, garlic, lemon, aniseed, ginger, cloves and cinnamon. We put them all in a teapot and let them infuse for a few minutes.

My mum told me that my grandmother would add a teaspoon of liquor and give it to her children just before bedtime, this would raise their temperature to kill off the germs and would they sleep all night long. She swears that it was the perfect cure, but we don´t do that any more.

So, thank you for this post and I will definitely take your easy formula of just honey and turmeric to keep the colds and flue at bay.

The good news is that I am back to full health and working on the Art course that I promised you. the new site is taking much longer than I hoped, but I am getting there.
