Today for my #NatureDoodlewash “hike” I went diving underwater 😉 I am going to share my watercolor of a beautiful sea creature a “ Seahorse“. I love everything that has to do with ocean, sea and water and I enjoyed very much to paint the colorful beauty of this Seahorse.

Seahorse is the name given to 54 species of small marine fishes in the genus Hippocampus. “Hippocampus” comes from the Ancient Greek word hippos meaning “horse” and kampos meaning “sea monster”. The word “seahorse” is often written as two separate words, or hyphenated. Having a head and neck suggestive of a horse, seahorses also feature segmented bony armour, an upright posture and a curled prehensile tail.
Coming Soon Event! “The World Watercolor Month” you can learn all about it here!

Details about my doodlewash:
watercolor outlined with black ink pen. I used French Artists Watercolors Sennelier l’Aguarelle 12 demi-godets half-pans travel metal box and Pigma Micron Black ink pen #005. Painted over a Mixed Media Sketchbook!
With this watercolor I am also joining Charlie at doodlewash for #NatureDoodlewash

So beautiful! I think that the seahorse is to the ocean what fireflies are to the woods. Little magical beings.

That’s a magnificent seahorse, Carolina! They must have been larger at some point in history to be classed as monsters though! Nowadays they’re merely cute! 😀
