Wonderful Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell, 90s Shoegaze pop music artist, has organized a Charity auction fundraising for the new UK, Devon’s Deaf Academy project to open on April 2020. Rachel Goswell is personally involved with the Academy and sensitive to the problem of hearing impairment because affect her 9 years old son Jesse. Rachel and her husband Steve Clarke recently formed “The Soft Cavalry” released their debut album which includes the song “Bulletproof” and the interesting and beautiful Video performed by the duo in sign language.
The Soft Cavalry – Rachel Goswell and Steve Clarke performing in Bulletproof Video
Rachel Goswell expressed her motivations behind the Bulletproof video in a press release: “For a long time now I have wanted to do a video that incorporates BSL (British Sign Language) due to my son being Profoundly Deaf with no hearing. He also has additional needs with CHARGE Syndrome that brings many added complications. I live within two worlds both Hearing and Deaf; and have learned a lot in the last nine years about the many barriers Deaf people can face in our society. One of the main points I was taught very quickly is how music is accessible to Deaf people. Of course music can be felt through vibration but visually I feel so much more could be done to enhance the experience. We made this video with the support of Sign Up BSL to translate ‘Bulletproof’ so that the song flows properly in BSL. Sometimes with signing videos – they can be a literal translation of the words (Sign Supported English) which will make little sense to the Deaf viewer. Our hope is that we have achieved this and also that one day as my son gets older and develops his language skills he will be able to understand this song.”
During the past couple of months since Rachel announced the donation of one of her guitars, numerous bands and artists connected with her. She gathered and will auction off amazing generously donated items from great bands, musicians and creative artists. The auction lots includes unique Music and Art collectibles, memorabilia signed items, screen prints, set lists, shirts, jewelry, signed albums and lots more. Just to name a few, Rachel Goswell donated one of her loved guitars signed by Slowdive members, the band also donated a variety of rare items. A long still growing list of over sixty unique items is ready for the upcoming auction, includes donations from The Cure, Cocteau Twins, Mogwai, The Cult, Low, Ash, My Bloody Valentine and many more.
I am honored that I was able to contribute and donate my art for this great cause, give help for deaf children to have a new beautiful place. I have donated two prints a “One Of A Kind” Limited Edition Fine Art Prints of my recent watercolor paintings a portrait of Robert Smith “THE CURE” and of Frightened Rabbit -Scott Hutchison Tribute. Prints are OOAK Hand Enhanced with gold ink and feature hand written words from favorite songs! Since Rachel shared them on her Instagram I can share them here in preview.

Day 27: Coat – Stranger Things Double Challenge combined prompts #Drawlloweentober2019 Inktober: Coat MabsDrawlloweenClub2019: Stranger Things
Hello friends I can’t believe we are almost at the end of October and of Inktober art challenge only four more days to go!
Today drawing is inspired by the prompts “Stranger Things” a very popular American TV-14 series for young adult on Netflix. If you are familiar with the 3 Seasons of this fiction, science, horror series, then you sure recognized my two very loved main characters. Eleven the girl with the special telepathic and psychokinetic powers and ability and Mike the boy that found her when she escaped from an experimental scientific facility. I am not going to say more… as I don’t want to spoil the story if you intend to watch it! I have to say, that I enjoyed to watch all the 3 seasons with my daughter very much it is a very interesting , fun and dramatic series and very captivating! Now waiting for the 4th Season hopefully in 2020.

Day 26: Dark – Huli Jing Double Challenge combined prompts #Drawlloweentober2019 Inktober: Dark MabsDrawlloweenClub2019: Huli Jing
Today prompt “Huli Jing” is inspired by the Chinese Mythology (Chinese: 狐狸精; literally: ‘fox spirit’) or jiuweihu (Chinese: 九尾狐; literally: ‘nine-tailed fox’) are Chinese mythological creatures who can be either good or bad spirits. During the Han dynasty, the development of ideas about interspecies transformation had taken place in Chinese culture. The idea that non-human creatures with advancing age could assume human form. As these traditions developed, the fox’s capacity for transformation was shaped. (Source WikipediA)
I hope you like my drawing and vision of the Huli Jing representing the 9 tales Fox Spirit, the black minimalistic background is for combine the prompt Dark. I think it suits greatly with my composition.
❤ Details about my drawings: Supplies used for my Ink drawing ink pens used COPIC Multiliner Black ink #03 and 05, Micron dark red ink #, brown #003. Fountain Pen Pilot Prera Fine Nib. Alvin Draft/Matic pencil #03 Limited Edition Pink Mab Graves.

Day 24: Dizzy – La Llorona Double Challenge combined prompts #Drawlloweentober2019 Inktober: Dizzy MabsDrawlloweenClub2019: La Llorona
Today prompt “La Llorona” is what inspired the creation of my whole drawing.
The Legend: “In Latin American folklore, La Llorona also known as the Weeping Woman or the cryer, is one of the most famous legends. It is the story of a woman. The lore states a woman was abandoned by her husband and was left alone to raise her two sons, whom she instead drowned in a river out of grief and anger. As a result of her actions the woman is condemned to wander for all eternity until she finds the bodies of her children, often causing misfortune to those who are near or hear her. The oral story represents La Llorona as a person, legend, ghost, goddess, metaphor and symbol“. (source WikipediA)
This is my Vision: of La Llorona I wanted to capture her in a specific emotional state, which is that moment when after all the pain and sorrow, when the sadness took all her tears, when there is nothing else out of her… that moment when she needs to surrender to herself and let it go all the pain, is that moment when she comes out of the dark, see barely the light and when she gets her first breath with a feeling of relief 🖤this is what I wanted to capture in her. I hope I did! Today drawing was a little on the darkside but that was the only way to represent La Llorona.
