Art For Music – Album Cover Design and Album Release

Nu-San Album “Nu Nostalgia”  Cover Artwork by ©CarolinaRusso – Photo ©Nu-San

ART FOR MUSIC

Collaboration Album Cover Design and Album Release!

Hello friends,
Today I am so excited to share with you something beautiful about this collaboration and great project I have been working on. After almost one year of collaboration with my dear friend Electronic Music Composer  “Nu-San” from Scotland, I can finally share that his  album is out now! What a great accomplishment for Nu-San and for me too! Congratulations Sandy!
I loved to be the chosen Artist and creator of a commissioned Original Painting designed to be the “Album Cover” for Nu-San new album “Nu Nostalgia”. I am sure that you remember some of my updates and previous posts about this creation and exciting project. A couple of days ago I have received some nice photos from Nu-San and I am so happy to finally be able to share them and let you see the finished product the album “Nu Nostalgia” is beautiful and alive now! My artistic part in the project “The Cover” turned out just the way I had envisioned it and  it’s a Gatefold style Cover, when it opens, you can see my whole painting! I love Nu-San choice of the colored red vinyl record it match greatly with the color of the roses in my painting. The vinyl is a unique and collectible piece available in a Limited Edition  of only #248 copies it can be Pre-Ordered now contacting Nu-San directly on his Facebook page!

Nu-San Album “Nu Nostalgia”  Cover Artwork by ©CarolinaRusso – Photo ©Nu-San

The Official Album Release date is the 1st January, 2019 !

This is a wonderful album in all the creative aspects from the beautiful music and lyrics recalling the memories of a lifelong as the songs “Past Time” to “Come With Me” the music drives you in with the hauntingly sounds of electronic darkness and hints of techno in a world of Gothic accents that creates intense atmospheres a sure experience to listen and a great album to add to your LP records collection. A CD version would be released soon too!
To Pre-Order The Album “Nu Nostalgia” Limited Edition red Vinyl record contact via DM Nu-San on his Facebook Page.

The Album Cover and Original Watercolor Painting Details: The Original artwork for the Cover is my watercolor and ink painting in my signature style. A custom request in the specific size of 12 x 24 inches. This is the result of our great collaboration a very unique custom commission for me which I am very proud. I am happy that I can reveal all the  details about this project. It all started when last November 2017 I was contacted by Electronic Music Composer  Sandy Bain aka “Nu-San” from Scotland, UK. Nu-San loves my art and owns other paintings and my Limited Edition Prints. At that time he was working on his new album and had a starting idea when he asked me to create a Painting inspired by a “Gothic haunting style” in my own style that he wanted to  use as the album cover for his  new album, the rest is now history, this is the outcome.

A wonderful project that I am so honored, grateful and thankful beyond words that Nu-San wanted my art to illustrate his music. I love music and love to support music artists with my art. I always wanted to create an artwork that would be illustrating a music album as the  “Cover ” this is a wish come true for me and for Nu-San as he has multiple albums in his discography but they are CD version, this is his first Album produced as a Vinyl record and CD.

This project and watercolor painting is also included in my Collection  “ART FOR MUSIC” a series of artworks created and inspired by music artists and collaborations.

Original Watercolor Painting by ©CarolinaRusso – Photo ©Nu-San

My Original painting: is a watercolor and ink portrait in my signature style with a hint of Gothic and a light feeling of darkness reflecting in the light tones of colors. Nu-San asked me to include ravens birds, a graveyard scene, a castle and gave me the freedom to create and develop the idea. I enjoyed painting this atmospheric portrait while listening to his music to be able to deliver the spirit of  Nu-San in my creation. We are very happy about how the painting turned out and now to see the Album as finished product is a great joy! The Original Painting is owned by Nu-San and beautifully framed and displayed in his home! I think it looks beautiful,  the painting is now available as Limited Edition Fine Art Prints signed by me!

New Release! Watercolor Painting “All Is Not Lost” – Tribute Series

Not All Is Lost – Watercolor, Ink Painting ©Carolina Russo  – Painting #2 Scott Hutchison Tribute Series

NEW PAINTING RELEASE!

Today post is to Officially Release my new watercolor painting
” ALL IS NOT LOST”

Limited Edition Fine Art Prints – Edition of #60 Prints

I am very happy today to finally be able to reveal and officially release my new painting. The Original was just delivered to its new home. The painting was a Commission, requested by a dear friend and a Fan of Scott Hutchison. I was asked by Mick to create a second tribute painting dedicated to Scott Hutchison but in a different way. Mick had a starting idea and gave me the freedom to develop the idea artistically creating my vision and work following my inspirations.
This is my second painting dedicated to Scott Hutchison after my Tribute Portrait released 20 June, 2018.

Scott-Hutchison – Photo by Ross Gilmore/Redferns

I am sure you remember but for who is new, my #1 painting is the “Tribute Portrait dedicated to Scottish music artist “Scott Hutchison”  a very emotional piece created In Loving Memory of Scott (20/11/81 – 10/5/18) R.I.P
Scott Hutchison was a wonderful music artist founding and primary songwriter of indie rock band Frightened Rabbit   The first painting is my humble contribution honoring Scott soul and to  raise awareness on a very important issue right now in Scotland and in the World. Mental Health and suicide prevention. Scott Hutchison sadly and suddenly left our world last May 10, 2018  at age of 36. Struggling with depression”.

My New Release is the painting #2 title “All Is Not Lost” each of my two paintings has strong meanings, including very emotional elements, familiar to whom followed Scott life and music. This painting also have a double meaning and very personal to me because is related to my own life. (I will probably explain in the future}. The first painting, is the Tribute to Scott and his wonderful soul that is alive and will shine to us forever. The painting carries a message of “Legacy”. My second painting is dedicated to who is left, family, friends, fans and carries a message of “Hope”. Please highly  advise you to read my painting meaning to fully understand it especially if you’re struggling with your emotions.

Painting Meaning: My painting is an emotional piece that carries messages of Hope. There are a lots of different emotions into this creation. The title “All Is Not Lost” gives an indirect Tribute to Scott Hutchison, these are his words and I want these words to resonate within all of us. The view of Scotland “Port Edgar”, such a beautiful and peaceful view and now with a strong reminder. The girl standing in the water is touched by the blowing wind, she is a soul that represents who is left, she is all of us. She is looking still and fearless to the horizon for answers and looking to the future. She also represents “Hope” and “Life”, that “All Is Not Lost”. We have to keep going onward! And find the answers inside our self! Next to her, emerging from the water, there is the FR double cross, that represents Scott presence and that he would be always there in our heart, with family, friends, fans.

Note: My first painting is a Tribute to Scott, this is my second painting as follows and legacy to the first is a Tribute to who Scott left his legacy.

At this moment I have created two paintings that are a perfect match to one another, they complete each other beautifully as the feelings of the meaningful messages. I have used the same color palette and gold ink as enhancement touches in the #1 painting on the double cross and in #2 painting on the girl hair moved by the wind. I love both paintings dearly. I loved each minute and hours spent painting such emotional pieces. They looks beautiful on a wall together. I was thinking maybe to create a third painting and close the “Scott Hutchison Tribute Series as a Trilogy”. So far we have two messages: Legacy and Hope I am thinking at the third message. For now it’s only an idea, let’s see what you all think and if will come true!

My Message to whom will get this print: Thank you once again!  I hope that you love this second painting as much as I do and I hope that it will speak to you and reach your heart and soul deeply. You’re not alone, do not despair, keep going onward, “All Is Not Lost” we still have hope – Carolina

  • When the painting was delivered to Mick, I had one of the most beautiful and heartfelt feedback message sent me on Facebook. I am so thankful, grateful and for the given opportunity to create this piece and I am humbled that my art was heart-felt so deeply, from someone who loves Scott so much is more than I could ever imagine. I love to share this beautiful feedback message with you:
Alba Mick to Carolina Russo  September 25 at 12:01 PM
I have received the most Amazing Painting today from Carolina Russo.

Carolina Russo will have an Official release of this painting soon!!
Below is part of my message to Carolina Russo after seeing it. I feel this gives the best description on how seeing it made me feel.

Dear Carolina,
I am physically shaking with emotion. I am so overwhelmed, I am struggling to write. You have created a masterpiece. It is so beautiful. The Image in the water of the double cross, the bridge, the way she has her feet in the water, the flowing hair with the gold through it. I am blown away. It has so much depth and emotion.
You have taken a very simple idea and made it in to not just a work of art, but a real masterpiece. My heart lurched when i seen it. words cannot describe the joy i am feeling. I cannot believe you have created this beautiful piece.
I do not think there are enough words in the english language to express the way I feel. My mind is blown. You are a real genius. I feel it is one of the best paintings not only of yours, but that I have ever seen.
My gratitude to you Carolina Russo, Thank you seems so insufficient to express how I feel. Reading your hand written letter with the Meaning and the painting’s title “All is Not Lost”. Thank you so much.
Alba Mick

Scott Hutchison Tribute – Watercolor Painting ©CarolinaRusso

I have been very busy during the months of June and July with several interesting projects.  I have created the Tribute painting of Scottish music artist Scott Hutchison that sadly and unexpectedly left this world last May. I had a wonderful response from all the loving fans to the band Frightened Rabbit when I have released the painting available in Limited Edition Prints.  I thank them all! For who missed my previous posts about this, here there is a little recap and excerpt from one of my posts.

Scott-Hutchison – Photo by Ross Gilmore/Redferns

My painting it is a Tribute Portrait dedicated to Scottish music artist “Scott Hutchison”  this is a very emotional painting created In Loving Memory of Scott (20/11/81 – 10/5/18) R.I.P
Scott Hutchison was a wonderful music artist from Scotland founding and primary songwriter of indie rock band Frightened Rabbit

This painting is my humble contribution to honor Scott soul and to raise awareness on Mental Health and suicide prevention. Scott Hutchison left our world last May 10, 2018  at age of 36. Struggling with the demons of depression. He never hid his suffering, but translated his feelings using his alienation in words creating songs that touched the heart of many around the world. He always reassured fans who reached to him about their problems that “there’s always hope”.

I will Donate a portion of the proceeds of my Limited Edition Prints in “Scott Memory” to UK  SAMH  “Scottish Association for Mental Health”.
Thank you so much in advance to anyone that already did, and who will decide to purchase one of these unique prints, your support means a lot and can help to give “Tiny changes while here on Earth (Scott words)”.

I loved the beautiful response of the amazing fans and they kept me really busy preparing all the Prints for their orders. I had wonderful feedbacks and  I am happy that through my painting I am able to relief a little of the sadness and pain in so many hearts and keep up the strong legacy that Scott left here.

All this kept me very busy. This year I had no time to participate to “The World Watercolor Month”  sorry Charlie doodlewash I was only able to post few paintings during July but it’s all good, The past two years I have participated and completed the challenge to paint daily for 31 days and I loved it, because gave me the opportunity to create new collections of paintings, this is a great way to create new material for your portfolio using a challenge for inspiration, especially for new artists or beginners this is an advice I can give to whom is in need of inspiration to create, follow a challenge and make it yours.

But I also have a nice news, because during July I have submitted few paintings on Instagram to the Pentalic365 challenge and I am so honored to be the Winner for the month of July see their post Pentalic365

❤ ❤ During the past months I lost two wonderful pets they went over the rainbow bridge, I was very sad to loose Rocky a rescued Chihuahua and my loved Yumi a wonderful and amazing rescued Possum!

Love You Forever R.I.P. Rocky 6/29/2018

Love You Forever R.I.P. Yumi 7/9/2018

This was just an update to share everything is going on and why I haven’t been active as my usual on this Blog! I actually have been very active posting on my instagram @carolinarussoart if you follow me there than you see my daily posts. At the moment beside the Scott Hutchison’s Prints I am working on some commissions and also my painting created a while ago for the album cover of  coming soon  music album Nu-Nostalgia by artist Nu-San would be released in a couple of months, is exciting time, I will keep you all informed hopefully I will post more often ❤

– Lighthouse (Rhode Island) –

Today I have a nice news to share with you!

My watercolor painting “Lighthouse – Rhode Island” was created last July 2016 during my participation to the first edition of the  World Watercolor Month  a worldwide challenge that did bring together artists from all over the world to create 31 paintings in 31 days. My Lighthouse is actually available in Limited Edition Art Prints on my Etsy Shop Carolina Russo Art  one of prints just Sold recently to a dear friend Whafflemethis part of our Community here on WordPress. I love Lighthouses and seascapes they are so beautiful bring calmness and meditative feelings! When I painted the Original watercolor, I searched for inspiration and I came across beautiful images of “Rhode Island” an US State in New England, lots of lovely views and places. I found over a Google search a beautiful photo  of a lighthouse located near the city of Newport. That was my inspiration for my painting I have posted the photo below for you to see (sorry I don’t know the photographer name to give credit).

Here is the photo that I have received this morning, the painting is beautifully framed in a cherry wood frame,  looks great in his new home in Scotland. Rich aka wafflemethis recently ordered the art print with the option upon request to have the painting mounted with a matt which I personally prepare. This is an option that I offer for a small difference of price to Limited Edition Prints, so that the print when received is ready to be framed. We decided for a blue matt because  brings out greatly the colors of the painting and match with another “Lighthouse” painting of mine that he previously purchased, and I am sure they look great together.

I am so happy and grateful that I was able to do this Interview!

Today I am very pleased to introduce you with James Radcliffe a wonderful multi talented Artist, a dear friend from the music world and part of our community.  James is an independent artist a music composer from the beautiful land of Scotland.

Thank you James for  your precious time doing this interview with me. I love to give the opportunity to get to know you and your art.

Let’s start with the questions:

For the reader that doesn’t know you and your music, can you please introduce who is James Radcliffe?

I am an independent artist based in Edinburgh Scotland. I make music, I write, I take photographs and perform live. In the last 4 years or so, I have built a grassroots social media following in excess of 100’000 people.  This is what allows me to make art as a living.

Your music has a very distinctive sound and style, when listening it brings you in far away places, almost out of this world. Can you describe your creative process and what prompt inspire you while creating? And how do you categorize your genre?

First, thank you very much, I take this as a great compliment.  It is hard to nail down a creative process, as much of it is a mystery.  I will say though, that there are two main phases: the creative phase and the craft phase.  The work is usually born from a kind of state of mind which is outside of time, when I am fully absorbed.  The craft is where I take the pieces of rock and polish them into something beautiful.  I cycle back and forth between these two until the work is finished.

You just released your new beautiful and fantastic Album ” Murder The Impossible” can you tell us your feelings and meanings behind it?

Murder the Impossible was a collection of tracks that I worked on in a very specific way in the studio.  It took me over a year to get them right.  Each of the tracks was aimed at a specific feeling, for example, the first track ‘World Enough and Time’ was aimed at the feeling of ecstasy I get from truly great music. One of the reasons it took me so long, is because I played all the instruments, including the cello, and did all of the studio work.

Murder The Impossible is the 5th genre-defying release from James Radcliffe.

What is your creative Dream Project?

The thing that I am working on right now.  One of the great things about being independent is that you get to choose exactly what you want to work on.

What is happening at the moment? Are you working on any new ideas? Do you have in plan for any live gig?

A lot of stuff is happening right now.  I am generally always working, on new ideas and current work.  I think I am going to do something quite exciting and new for my next project, which I may release quite soon.  I am also playing with the idea of taking all my music off the internet.

Live performance will definitely be happening soon.  And I am looking into touring options as we speak.

This question is very personal and introspective, I love to ask this to artists. If you describe or picture your inner soul, how will you describe it? And what color it would be?

Like a roiling ocean.  And black.  Black as strong coffee.
