Music – Pink Floyd Live Rome Italy 1988 – Shine on you crazy diamond

I Was There….

I am very proud to be able to say that “I Was There attending this amazing and for me unforgettable Pink Floyd Concert. That night on July 12th 1988 Stadium Flaminio  in Rome Italy, my native country!  I witnessed a magical and a unique experience and a piece of music history like no other!

I am glad I found this YouTube clip of  sadly it doesn’t show the magnificence of the stage and band that I have seen there, you will see nice images of Rome while listening the great live sound recorded that night of the beautiful song Shine on you crazy diamond! Just hearing the first notes I felt goosebumps like I was there again! I wanted to share this memory with you and a  piece of my life experience that I will never forget!

I hope that you enjoy with me the great music reading the lyric!

-Carolina

Shine On You Crazy Diamond (I-V)

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there’s a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught in the crossfire of childhood and stardom, blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter, come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine! You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision, rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions, come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!

  2. I’ve seen Floyd a few times, and saw them in ’88 myself, here in the US. I have seen more live shows than I can count, and to this day, I say Pink Floyd was my favorite. You’re right, it’s an experience. 😃

  3. Love Pink Floyd. For me they were really the first group that I enjoyed all their music, enough to buy their albums. Their music has withstood the test of time for sure!

I would like to quote the lines from ‘Learning to Fly’ to just compliment Floyd and the wonderful memory it has created for us –
        ‘ There’s no sensation,
        to compare with this-
        Suspended animation,
        A state of bliss! ‘
