– April new watercolor month challenge: Spring Things!
Today prompt list for the monthly challenge at doodlewash is “BUTTERFLY” I am joining in this month whenever is possible.
Today the prompt Butterfly couldn’t be missed! I love butterflies so much that I have a tattoo with a Monarch on my foot. The butterfly has elegance, beauty and gorgeous colors they are just stunning and they have a beautiful meaning:
“Butterflies are deep and powerful representations of life. Many cultures associate the butterfly with our souls. The Christian religion sees the butterfly as a symbol of resurrection. Around the world, people view the butterfly as representing endurance, change, hope, and life” ( Source gardenswithwings.com)
Today painting is a quick one that I sketched very fast. I had no much time and I am working in between several work in progress paintings, so I am glad I was able to manage my first watercolor of the month.
❤
Details about my watercolors: watercolors are outlined with black pens. I used French Artists Watercolors Sennelier l’Aguarelle, Ink pens used Pigma Micron Black ink #02 and a black ink Pilot Prera fountain pen fine nib. I painted on a mixed media sketckbook.

My watercolor painting “Lighthouse – Rhode Island” was created last July 2016 during my participation to the first edition of the World Watercolor Month a worldwide challenge that did bring together artists from all over the world to create 31 paintings in 31 days. My Lighthouse is actually available in Limited Edition Art Prints on my Etsy Shop Carolina Russo Art one of prints just Sold recently to a dear friend Whafflemethis part of our Community here on WordPress. I love Lighthouses and seascapes they are so beautiful bring calmness and meditative feelings! When I painted the Original watercolor, I searched for inspiration and I came across beautiful images of “Rhode Island” an US State in New England, lots of lovely views and places. I found over a Google search a beautiful photo of a lighthouse located near the city of Newport. That was my inspiration for my painting I have posted the photo below for you to see (sorry I don’t know the photographer name to give credit).
Here is the photo that I have received this morning, the painting is beautifully framed in a cherry wood frame, looks great in his new home in Scotland. Rich aka wafflemethis recently ordered the art print with the option upon request to have the painting mounted with a matt which I personally prepare. This is an option that I offer for a small difference of price to Limited Edition Prints, so that the print when received is ready to be framed. We decided for a blue matt because brings out greatly the colors of the painting and match with another “Lighthouse” painting of mine that he previously purchased, and I am sure they look great together.
This is the reference photo I used to create the painting in my vision and signature style.
Reference photo – Rhode Island Lighthouse (Photo Credits Google Search).

Today My watercolor painting is the portrait of “Spring” a lovely and delicate creature, she has lovely long green hair braided with flowers and beautiful intense big blue eyes. I am inspired by the unique and beautiful Art Dolls custom-made for collectors. Better known as “Blythe Dolls” I love to paint and drawing Blythe dolls they are really pretty and one of the characteristics is that they have an over sized head and large beautiful eyes over a smaller body which make them a great subject for Pop Surrealism Art. Blythe dolls from years acquired a cult following of collectors, photographers and artists around the world. It’s always a joy to paint a portrait inspired, I came across lately to other artists following this inspiration and it is amazing that Blythe dolls acquired a cult following of collectors and eventually, photographers and artists around the world, if you are not so familiar with this you can read more about it here on Wikipedia.
My painting portrays an image of the coming Spring Season with her vibrant green hair and fresh flowers she is just there in the grass enjoying the beauty of a sunny day and I think she is also perfect to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day I wish to all of you a great one!
Details about my watercolors: This watercolor painting is outlined with black and white ink pens. I used French Artists Watercolors Sennelier, Ink pens used are a black ink Pilot Prera fountain pen fine nib and a COPIC Multiliner #00.3 and Pigma Micron #05. I painted on a 8 x 11 inches mixed media sketchbook.

Today prompt list for the monthly challenge at doodlewash is “WARM” I am joining in.
Today the word warm made me think at many of you out there that still have snow lately (you know I love snow!) I have seen via social media lots of snow here in US, in other States than where I am, which is sunny and a little bit too much warm now for the season, over 80 degree feels like Summer during day time, especially this week. The weather has been little crazy playing hot and cool after the needed rain we had two weeks ago. Seems next week we will cool down!
Today painting is more of a cute illustration and is inspired by the latest snow, and my little girl need to keep warm! This is a quick one that I sketched very fast on my Hobonichi Planner!
Details about my watercolors: watercolors are outlined with black pens. I used French Artists Watercolors Sennelier l’Aguarelle 12 demi-godets half-pans travel metal box Ink pens used Pigma Micron Black ink #02 and a black ink Pilot Prera fountain pen fine nib. I painted on a Hobonichi Planner (Japan) over Tomoe River paper a very thin, lightweight paper great for fountain pens and not so wet watercolors.

This month I participate again to this interesting monthly writing event that brings together Art and Words on VisualVerse.org Anthology Press.
Today my new poem was published, this poem is not even here on my Blog yet!
The image that you see here above was the starting point image assigned this month by Visual Verse and 1 hour to write between 50 to 500 words. I think that my poem “Reflection” is a good combination with the image and has a good positive message.
I am very happy to share this with you all as a nice achievement of my creative writing and that now my poem is part of this interesting Anthology Literary Press and published on another of their Chapter.
This is a link to the Archive with all the images and writings published until now!
I am so happy that my writings are part of this innovative and great Anthology Press this is another beautiful way for my voice as an Artist to be heard.
I hope that you like my new poem! Please let me know what you think your comment means a lot to me!
A tag started by a blogger/writer called Sarah Brentyn, asking us to revisit our first ever blog posts! ❤
I have been invited by two of my dearest friends here on the blogosphere my dear blog brother Syl65′ and my dear blog sister Erika Kind they both tagged me for this challenge! I thought that was very kind of them thinking of me and what a great way to look back and see how all this amazing time started. Actually It is almost two years ago that I started blogging, to be precise it was the end of March 2015! Soon this month would be my second Blog Anniversary!!! I remembered that my first post was about my Jewelry, that was one of the reasons my Blog was born, to launch one side of my art, my Jewelry Design Collections! I went to look back and found my very first post written on March 24, 2015 only few words, one of my photos and a shy update announcement! After two years my Blog forged and developed greatly in something complete that reflects what I am. My Blog became also a showroom of all my Art ways, form and expression of my creativity and inspirations. A place of my own that I love so very much, a place where I can share with all of you. A special thanks goes to all my dear followers and friends that supported and encouraged me during these two great years! Thank you!
New update “Jewelry Portfolio” is a gallery showcasing my work, I will keep updating!
I am now up working on new designs for my “Among Nature Jewelry Collection” and on some custom orders. Soon my Etsy shop would be open!
Thank You!
Here we come to the rules:
Obvious rules:
No cheating. (It must be your first post. Not your second post, not one you love…first post only.)
Link back to the person who tagged you (thank them if you feel like it or, if not, curse them with a plague of ladybugs).
Other rules:
Cut and paste your old post into a new post or reblog your own bad self. (Either way is fine but NO editing.)
Put the hashtag #MyFirstPostRevisited in your title.
Tag…um…tentwotwelve five (5) other bloggers to take up this challenge.
Notify your tags in the comment section of their blog (don’t just hope they notice a pingback somewhere in their spam).
Feel free to cut and paste the badge to use in your post.
Include “the rules” in your post.
Completely silly rules that I’m making up as I type:
Drink a glass of wine, bottle of beer, cup of coffee, mug of herbal tea or whatever floats your boat after you hit “publish”. (In other words, toast yourself. Go you!)

tomorrow is last day of Charlie’s February Adventure and challenge, this month I only have joined few days because I have been working on commissions. Today prompt list says “FEATHERS” and I am going to join doodlewash
I love feathers their lightness and their beautiful colors that distinguish the beauty of birds. A feather inspire in so many ways not just for a painting and illustrations often are beautiful subjects for photography or poetry. I like to collect feathers that I find lost in nature, there is always something special about them.
