The Season is changing and so the colors in nature we are getting close to the Autumnal equinox 2016, which would be on September 22.
The Fall season will bring us new enjoyable things of different kinds during the transition from Summer to Winter. Here in California I wont feel much that transition which I would love it!
Yesterday I was inspired to paint a Sunflower thinking to the beautiful nature in the wilderness. I wanted to paint in autumnal colors and add some character to the composition.
I painted the sunflower directly with the watercolors without trace it with pencil before. I loved letting the water flow and blend with the colors. This time I also wanted to create a different effect leaving some of the leafs in white and just outline them with the black ink pen, the white leafs are the only thing that I traced in pencil I really like how it turned out and I hope that you do too let me know your impressions! ❤
Details about my doodlewash: watercolor outlined with black and blue ink pen. I used French Artists Watercolors Sennelier l’Aguarelle 12 demi-godets half-pans travel metal box and Pigma Micron Black ink #01 and a Blue Pentel ink pen. Painted over a cold press 140 lb watercolor paper pad size 7.5 x 9 inches!
With this watercolor I am also joining Charlie atdoodlewashfor #WorldWatercolorGroup

Today my watercolor illustration is for #SeptemberAdventure I am playing along with Charlie at doodlewash for the theme of this month which is “Travel Memories”. This post put together several of the inspiring prompts and ideas that Charlie listed for the 30 days of painting. This beautiful September is a month dear to me because my Birthday is coming up sometime soon.
My watercolor today is about travels. In my past years I have been travelling around Europe visiting beautiful places and creating great memories in my life. Today my illustration doesn’t just bring back my travelling memories but is especially in memory of the day I traveled from the other side of the ocean where is my country Italy to USA. I already mentioned in another post that last August 22nd has been 14 years that I live here in California. My illustration is a way to remember that long day I traveled from Naples my City, via London to Los Angeles, it took approximately 20 hour it was an adventure for sure! 😉
Today I like to share with you my new watercolor, I made it last night before go to bed and it made me happy. I love the white Dove is such a beautiful bird and it became a great symbol of love and peace. It is rare to see them but each time I see one flying in the sky I stop everything just to admire her beauty and feelings that she brings. Yesterday I was pinning on my boards on Pinterest and I came across a lovely photo of a Dove that inspired me to paint as soon I saw it. I had that urge to paint it right at that moment! If you paint or sketch or also if you write or create any kind of things then you know what that feeling is and means, it was just late before go to bed not really a time to paint but I didn’t wanted to miss that magic moment of inspiration that strike you unexpected so I did! I actually made it pretty quickly and I like it 😉 there is a beautiful quote that I want to share with you today and is from an Italian artist from Tuscany he was trained under the influence of Giotto is part of the Art history, long time ago we are talking of the year 1390! Is dear to me because is from an artist that contribute to the beautiful art in my native country Italy. But no matter the long time passed the words of this artist are very inspiring and motivating today! I wrote this quote on the first page of one of my sketchbooks I can read it all the time and will keep motivate and inspiring me.
“DAY AFTER DAY NEVER FAIL TO DRAW SOMETHING WHICH, HOWEVER LITTLE IT MAY BE, WILL YET IN THE END BE MUCH”
Cennino Cennini

July 1st – Miss Summer
For this first day of the World Watercolor Month I painted a girl adorned with flowers as symbol of this beautiful Season that is “Summer” I titled this watercolor “Miss Summer” I live in California and here it’s Summer right now! I know in other parts of the world is Winter but you can always enjoy memories of Summer!
Today for my #NatureDoodlewash “hike” I enjoyed a walk on the beach 😉 it is very hot these days the beach seems to be the place to go. I am going to share my watercolor of some beautiful ocean treasures “Seashells”. I love everything that has to do with ocean you already know that by now! Seashells are fascinating to me , they are beautiful and great finds, I collect pieces of seashells and fossil seashells that I find in special places I go, or if they are interesting fragments. I use them for my one of a kind or limited edition jewelry that I create inspired by nature. I like to think that these seashells had a long life under water and that the ocean, wind and sand shaped them year after year. I enjoyed very much to paint these beauty.
Coming Soon Event! “The World Watercolor Month” you can learn all about it here!
Today for my #NatureDoodlewash hike, I had an imaginary walk across the wonderful Australia a land that I always wanted to go visit…and it didn’t happen yet! Maybe one day! For this watercolor I was inspired by a beautiful Magazine Cover that portrait a model holding a Kangaroo. A couple of weeks ago I was visiting a Barnes and Nobles Book store and I loved that cover so much that instantly I had the urge to sketch it.
I am so glad that I had my sketchbook with me and while sipping a coffee I sketched. I followed pretty much the lines and the pose, but I changed the girl expression and colors giving her a different look. I wanted her to have purple hair and be a whimsical girl. She hold the cute kangaroo on her shoulder close to her neck. It is a portrait very similar to the “Girl with a Bird” I made not long ago. I love Kangaroos and I really enjoyed to paint once again an image of love. I hope that you like it!
I also want to dedicate this illustration as symbol of friendship to all my friends here on the Blogosphere! And to all my Australian friends that are many!
Thank you to all for brightening my days! ❤

Today for my #NatureDoodlewash “hike” I went diving underwater 😉 I am going to share my watercolor of a beautiful sea creature a “ Seahorse“. I love everything that has to do with ocean, sea and water and I enjoyed very much to paint the colorful beauty of this Seahorse.
Seahorse is the name given to 54 species of small marine fishes in the genus Hippocampus. “Hippocampus” comes from the Ancient Greek word hippos meaning “horse” and kampos meaning “sea monster”. The word “seahorse” is often written as two separate words, or hyphenated. Having a head and neck suggestive of a horse, seahorses also feature segmented bony armour, an upright posture and a curled prehensile tail.
