Hello everyone today is the first day of December and it is snowing on my Blog! ❤
I love snow but living in Southern California is quite impossible from my location ito have snow unless I go up to the mountains when it’s snowing there.
So… I have to pretend to enjoy a peaceful snowfall and have it on my Blog! ❤ LOL
This month there are some nice watercolor painting challenges starting today! I hope to find the time to join one of them like I did last year, I am thinking at the “12 Days” Challenge hosted on Instagram and Facebook by The Bad Apple Artists Collective

April Celebration National and International Days!
Today is dedicated to “Draw a Picture of a Bird Day!”
In honor and inspiration of this Day I decided to Doodlewash a California Bird specifically one that I enjoy to see often from my window and it is a very cute little yellowish-green bird with sometimes a visible orange color crown on the top head, the name of this bird is the “Orange-Crowned Warbler”
I enjoyed to celebrate this Day and drawing this lovely bird very much! ❤
About April Draw a Picture of a Bird a Day Origin and how it all started:
Origin 1943 United Kingdom – Dorie Cooper
In 1943, Dorie Cooper’s mother took her to a hospital in to visit her uncle who was wounded in World War 2. While there, Dorie attempted to cheer her uncle by asking him to “Draw a bird for me, please.”After seeing her uncle’s bird picture, Dorie laughed out loud and proclaimed that he was not a very good artist, but that she would hang the picture in her room nonetheless. The complete honesty and acceptance of his niece did much to lighted her uncle’s spirit. Other soldiers at the hospital also had their day brightened by the event and so, every time Dorie came to visit, they held drawing contests to see who could produce the best bird pictures.
Sadly, just three years later, young Dorie was killed in a car accident. At her funeral, her coffin was filled with bird images that had been made by soldiers, nurses, and doctors from the ward where her uncle had been. The people who little Dorie had touched decided that the little girl who brought hope to the ward by drawing birds would be forevermore remembered on her birthday, April 8th.
Draw a Bird Day is not a recognized official holiday but it is one of the most heartfelt holidays of the year, honoring the soul of a beautiful and innocent, little girl.
To celebrate Dorie’s birthday, be inspired to draw a bird of any kind and share it! ❤
