Hello everyone during my year of Blogging I made beautiful connections. I came across amazing and inspiring people  from all over the world, great Artists, Writers, Musicians, Photographers and more, some incredible and amazing souls. I consider myself very fortunate that I have this wonderful opportunity thanks to the special connections and friendships made through my Blog.  I want to thank everyone for  the participation to our weekly Meet and Greet Fridays. Because this event, I had the opportunity  to discover and connect with numerous Blogs and it is far from easy for me to choose only one each month.  Today I share   my pick for the month of June. I had to choose between all the wonderful Bloggers that left their links during this month at the Meet and Greet Fridays!

This month I have the opportunity to introduce you with the wonderful world of  creativity and Watercolors!

We followed and stayed connected. I consider Charlie one of my dearest friend here on the Bloghosphere I am always thrilled by his comments to my watercolors!

Charlie O'ShieldsThis is an excerpt of Charlie About page…

“Hi, I’m Charlie O’Shields and I live in Kansas City, Missouri. Welcome to Doodlewash! I started this blog by trying to capture little bits of my world in ink and watercolor after a 20 year hiatus from sketching and absolutely no experience with watercolor. So the results have varied. A lot. But that’s all part of the fun! And I’m meeting many wonderful people on this journey. I’ve also discovered that sketching with washes of watercolor or ink is incredibly relaxing and a great way to relief stress. For anyone and everyone! Even if you don’t consider yourself an artist or have never dared to doodle before. Trust me… you can do it too. We are all artists when we make something new. Be sure to check out the amazingly talented Guest Doodlewashers as it’s my mission to promote the work of other sketcher and watercolorists out there. And if you’re interested in being a guest artist, just contact me!
Also, I’m not alone in this, you can meet the Doodlewash Crew below who inspire me daily with their beautiful work and help me stay motivated. And we’re inviting you to grab a brush and join us! Let’s all make some doodlewashes together!”

I am Carolina Russo from Southern California (follow me on my Blog, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest!). I am very excited and happy to be a Guest Doodlewasher! This blog is fantastic! I admire Charlie’s creativity and his doodlewashes are beautiful and inspiring. I am so proud to be able to say that I am one of the featured on Doodlewash. Thank you Charlie for having me here.

I was born and raised in Italy, the beautiful country where I have been surrounded by Italian art, creativity, history, Mediterranean traditions and European influences. My father is an artist and I grew up observing and being amazed by his oil paintings. I knew since I was a child that I wanted to be an artist. I enjoyed drawing, coloring and creating things since a very early age.

April Celebration National and International Days!

Today  is dedicated to “Draw a Picture of a Bird Day!”

In honor and inspiration of this Day I decided to Doodlewash a California Bird specifically one that I enjoy to see often from my window and it is a very cute little yellowish-green bird with sometimes a visible orange color crown on the top head, the name of this bird is the Orange-Crowned Warbler

I enjoyed to celebrate this Day and drawing this lovely bird very much! ❤

About April Draw a Picture of a Bird a Day Origin and how it all started:

Origin 1943 United Kingdom – Dorie Cooper

In 1943, Dorie Cooper’s mother took her to a hospital in to visit her uncle who was wounded in World War 2. While there, Dorie attempted to cheer her uncle by asking him to “Draw a bird for me, please.”After seeing her uncle’s bird picture, Dorie laughed out loud and proclaimed that he was not a very good artist, but that she would hang the picture in her room nonetheless. The complete honesty and acceptance of his niece did much to lighted her uncle’s spirit. Other soldiers at the hospital also had their day brightened by the event and so, every time Dorie came to visit, they held drawing contests to see who could produce the best bird pictures.
Sadly, just three years later, young Dorie was killed in a car accident. At her funeral, her coffin was filled with bird images that had been made by soldiers, nurses, and doctors from the ward where her uncle had been. The people who little Dorie had touched decided that the little girl who brought hope to the ward by drawing birds would be forevermore remembered on her birthday, April 8th.

Draw a Bird Day is not a recognized official holiday but it is one of the most heartfelt holidays of the year, honoring the soul of a beautiful and innocent, little girl.

To celebrate Dorie’s birthday, be inspired to draw a bird of any kind and share it! ❤

With this Celebration I am also join Charlie at doodlewash celebrating a National or International Day with a doodlewash!  You are welcome to join us with your doodlewash!  Tag your image #doodlewashaday
