New painting release!  “Mystical Multitude”

Today post feature the release of my new watercolor-graphite painting having the title of “Mystical Multitude”. This is the finished piece of the work in progress that who is following me on Instagram @carolinarussoart already has seen this painting progressing through my latest posts. I am happy how it turned out and If you missed the stages,  you can see here the pencil sketch where my inspiration and work begin, actually my starting sketch was the face in the center. This time I wanted to do something different and combine two mediums together and the use of different skills in one painting.   I love graphite for the soft tone and shades of grey with the possibility to build up the color with more depth as needed. I felt that would’ve been beautiful combined with the transparency of watercolor using a delicate color palette.

This is the beginning of the watercolor layering stage. I truly enjoyed to create this painting for the variety of expressions in the beautiful faces and for the mixed media technique. I did work for several days on it, there are lots of details and the layering in between watercolors and graphite. The paper I used it is a large size pad it is 9 x 12 inches, approx. 22.9 x 30.5 centimeters.

Painting Meaning

“For this portrait I gave the title “Mystical Multitude” the meaning behind the painting is inspired by how our emotions are flowing together in our reality, how feelings can transport us in many directions and how much we emotionally change. This portrait shows three different faces of women, but in a mystical and dreamy way it represents one person, the same woman in different moments and emotional state of her life, going through, transformation and changes”.

I love the softness and transparency of the watercolors and  I left it as pure watercolor without the ink outline that usually distinguish most of my paintings but using graphite and colored pencils for more definition.

      1. My apologies Carolina, I had to go back over it to ‘see’ what I had missed. I am so used to people referring to spiritual and unusual aspects that I took your words as face value rather than what you were actually trying to ‘portray’ within that lovely creation 😀
Sorry about that…I think I might need some time out…too much ‘spiritual’ and no balance of ‘life’ to go with it ❤

      1. Yes Erika I can see it already! I hope you will not disappear slowly and still have connections here! My blog schedule is changed a bit too since I need time to create my art and focusing on it! But my Blog is very important, it is my way to share my art with the world! ❤

      2. I won’t give up my blog, for sure. It is a way of sharing messages, inspiration and different perspectives…. more important than ever. Due to my extended work situation (as you may have read it is amazing what happened) and my private situation I may not be able to visit daily as I used to. But you will always find me on my blog. I just realized that I was about to make me a slave of blogging and neglect my own need for time and to pay more attention to my sons once I am home and done with my duties. So, no worries, I won’r get lost… it is just life ☺ sending you the biggest hugs to California💖 believe me, I wish I was there…💖

      3. Yes I know how it is Blogging it takes lots of time. I slowed down a bit too focusing more on my art creations and business side of it as you know that’s my full time only job, I am an artist and an artist life isn’t easy! And of course there is family and all the rest! I am happy to see you here all the time and remember my email is always open! 😉 I don’t know if I missed something when you say work situation (as you may have read it is amazing what happened) I knew you were changing and I know about your private situation! Did something new happened at work? 😉 ❤

      4. I love blogging and writing and I truly wish the day had more hours… haha. But it is ok. We simply need to set priorities, being flexible, and go with the flow, don’t we?
Meanwhile I am working almost fulltime and received an upgrade in my employment as I am not only working at the reception anymore but more in the actual business purpose which is compliance and risk. I am also responsible for marketing, taxes, and more administrative subjects. But the best thing is that for two weeks I am a member of the management. Who had ever thought when I applied for that job only 15 months ago? Amazing!!
I hope your business gets a push since you are so talented and so much love flows in your art and the way you present it. May you have more time again soon for all the things you love to do. Sending you big hugs, dear Carolina 💖
