New painting release! Mystical Multitude

New painting release!  “Mystical Multitude”

Today post feature the release of my new watercolor-graphite painting having the title of “Mystical Multitude”. This is the finished piece of the work in progress that who is following me on Instagram @carolinarussoart already has seen this painting progressing through my latest posts. I am happy how it turned out and If you missed the stages,  you can see here the pencil sketch where my inspiration and work begin, actually my starting sketch was the face in the center. This time I wanted to do something different and combine two mediums together and the use of different skills in one painting.   I love graphite for the soft tone and shades of grey with the possibility to build up the color with more depth as needed. I felt that would’ve been beautiful combined with the transparency of watercolor using a delicate color palette.

This is the beginning of the watercolor layering stage. I truly enjoyed to create this painting for the variety of expressions in the beautiful faces and for the mixed media technique. I did work for several days on it, there are lots of details and the layering in between watercolors and graphite. The paper I used it is a large size pad it is 9 x 12 inches, approx. 22.9 x 30.5 centimeters.

Painting Meaning

“For this portrait I gave the title “Mystical Multitude” the meaning behind the painting is inspired by how our emotions are flowing together in our reality, how feelings can transport us in many directions and how much we emotionally change. This portrait shows three different faces of women, but in a mystical and dreamy way it represents one person, the same woman in different moments and emotional state of her life, going through, transformation and changes”.

I love the softness and transparency of the watercolors and  I left it as pure watercolor without the ink outline that usually distinguish most of my paintings but using graphite and colored pencils for more definition.

Release of Limited Edition Fine Art Prints only #25 prints of this painting in size 8×10 inches are available for preorder purchase here on my Blog shop Limited Edition Prints

Details about my sketch and watercolor painting:
I Sketched on a mixed media large sketchbook size 9 x 12 inches and I used Draft/Matic Pencils  #0.3mm, #o.5mm and #0.7mm “Mab Graves Limited Edition” by ALVIN, a Carmine Red Pencil THINEX 425T (Vintage) – I used  French Artists Watercolors  Sennelier  l’Aguarelle and Jane Davenport Magic Wand colored pencils.

These beautiful Sunsets also inspired me to write a poem:

Overwhelming Beauty

The sunset light was approaching
the soft curved hills.
Evening was entering like a fierce painting
in the sky.

How amazing colors
in a new dimension that only
nature and someone above
has the power to create.

I felt that overwhelming presence
a strange feeling surrounded me,
all over like holding me
in a tight and breathtaking embrace

excitement and power for
something that I see unbelievable unreal
but truly real.

I am glad I was there
grabbing the drops of this
overwhelming beauty.

National Tell A Story Day

Peaceful
Peaceful – Original Watercolor ©Carolina Russo

Deep Water

Surrounded by the blue deepest water. The reflections of floating emotions, loaded the mind and body in a fearless state.Tranquillity and silence flying through the broken branches of a life experience, were glowing under the warm sunlight.
Suddenly warm rain drops of happiness joined the deep water becoming one.

Today for April Celebration is National Tell A Story Day!

I hope that you enjoyed to read my little story and that did bring you some good feelings and thoughts during this day or evening. I wanted to combine two of my artistic and creative way of expression, “Watercolors and Writing”. I wanted to share one of my 50 words stories “Deep Water” and illustrate it I with one of my watercolors that I painted few years ago for my mom.

National Tell a Story Day is observed in the United States each year on April 27th.
We are all encouraged to share all kinds of stories on National Tell a Story Day. Whether it’s read from a book, one from your imagination or an actual story from a childhood memory, April 27th is the day to gather friends and family and share those stories.

Details about my
doodlewash:
I used a basic watercolor palette Artist’s Loft Fundamental watercolor pan set  this pan set is considered for beginners but I enjoy it for the variety of colors and use it a lot for sketching. I also used a  Pigma Micron Black Ink pen #005 over a Watercolor Cold Press 140lb paper!

My Poem on Ink and Quill…

quill

Jennifer Calvert
is the wonderful writer behind Ink and Quill  she had a lovely and thoughtful idea, wanted to support the work of her fellow blogger with great appreciation sharing Poetry.  Few days ago she posted Share a Poem on Ink and Quill  having an enormous response.

The post was an invitation from Jennifer saying to “share a link here of your favourite poem/s, which you have written or a poem written by a fellow poet. Or both!

I did participate and left the link of one of my Poems. Today she reblogged  my Poem “Emotions”  with precious and beautiful words she honoured me and many others.

Carolina from Yesterday After, words flow and warm my soul, ‘floating like cluster clouds in a sky of darkness and light.’ ❤️

stormy_sky Emotions

Emotions

emotions chained
to words untold
floating like cluster clouds
in a sky of darkness and light

the storm was approaching
lighting were striking the heart
like stones breaking glasses

like in a lost dance over fire
following the song of my thoughts
holding a flower to protect

a desperate search for
a peaceful and silent shelter to rest

pieces of me were left there
in the dark with a white flower to hold
looking for a raising sun…

Over the Hills…

Over the Hills

Over the Hills

Looking over the hills
I lose my sight in the beautiful horizon

the immensity of Mother’s nature
that I cannot hold

brings me back and lost
in memories of  beautiful places

so dear and
so far away
called home.
